Hurricane Arthur success for hurricane science

#1 Postby hurricanetrack » Mon Jul 07, 2014 10:06 am

I am all about the data and the science. I love the excitement too, always have but I am a science geek at heart and Arthur was very thoroughly documented by our team and others who were out there doing what they love:

Arthur was weird because they nailed it and when the models sniffed a west tendency it verified.

Great summary of your success, Mark. Technology has come a long way. Why couldn't you some how incorporate an underwater light they use for dives and filming for the surge cams?

Yup some models, such as the Euro, nailed Arthur's general track and that he would remain a strong transitioning extratropical storm all the way up into these parts a week in advance.

You all need to click on hurricanetrack's link. It is talking about his success with the technology they have developed for use on in hurricanes. They have been able to use a surge cam, drones, etc.

This is the best evolution of hurricane chasing to come to this basin in many years! I am excited about being able to watch hurricanes in real time from the ground on your cameras (if we ever get one during the day). I was watching your ustream for many hours as it crossed North Carolina. I love the quad copters, and I hope that you will be able to use them in the eye of a hurricane soon so that we can bring the experience of an eye to the masses. Thanks for all that you do!!

Can I just ask the mods...why isn't Mark a pro-met on this forum?

I am not a meteorologist, I am a geographer. Degree in geography with an emphasis on hurricane impact to society. I never wanted to be a forecaster but rather wanted to study the impacts on land and the people who live on it.

As for having something to say, say it here, I cannot post the same blog format here that I can in WordPress, so that's why I posted the link. So may I suggest instead of clicking the link, just visit the site: it's hurricanetrack.com and the blog post about all of this is the most recent one.
