Hey, people are hot, let's talk about something cold.
Guesstimate the first freeze date for your area this year. Last year it happened in a lot of places in October, so let's run this from now until September 30th.
I'm hoping ours won't happen as early as it did last year (Oct 29th). I'd like to see at least the second week of November.

With the -EPO and cool ENSO I bet Houston will see a few freezes.
For Lindale, I expect the first freeze to be November 8th.

London Ontario tends to get snow as early as the end of October. I'm hoping not until never :p
I'm thinking December 04th 2016 deep freeze by mid January
It's still pretty warm for the beginning of October

Our latest first freeze record is November 13. That may be in the cards this year. Lowest so far has been 38 or so and the lows for next week are forecast to be around 50. Will the first two weeks of November change significantly?

I know this is old, but I will be surprised if Houston has a freeze before Christmas. There is going to have to be an almost total pattern flip for us to get any significant cold blasts down here. Our normal first freeze is December 12 iirc. We've made it into the upper 40s once this fall so far.

Of course we conside 40s to be cold.

Last year we basically didn't have a Winter. I think we got to 29 for our lowest at my house for the Winter and I think we only had two freezes the whole Winter. Expecting maybe a few more freezes this Winter, but nothing to write home about unless you live in the Caribbean.

Thought you guys were saying that was going to happen next week?
Our latest recorded First Freeze is November 13 and with 80s predicted for the next week, that record might fall.

Some were calling for that. I haven't seen it yet. We have cooled down to "normal" (70s highs and 50s/60s low) with some 40s predicted by the weekend. We shall see.
My call for first freeze for our area is New Years Eve. There is no science to this call btw. Based on what we have been seeing and hearing expect about the same number of freezes as last year, plus or minus 2, but possibly sharper(mid 20s) for us.

Looking like us in Texas (outside of NW TX) will be lucky to see a freeze this month. At best it will be late this month here.

Our first freeze here in SLC didn't occur until the morning of November 17 (the latest on record)! We almost got beat out by Florida
