KHOU Weather Forum Update/Wx Infinity Forums Now Live!

I am sad to announce that KHOU just informed me that they will no longer be supporting the KHOU Weather Forum. Effective November 5, 2018 at 9:30AM, the Weather Forum will be gone. I just received an e-mail with literally no advance knowledge of this. We will attempt to come up with some sort of solution in the days ahead and will advise our online Weather Community via our TxWeatherBoard Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Like you and everyone else, I am in shock!! I know you will keep S2K informed about further moves on your part. I do hope they can be brought back up on another platform! IMO they were/are an important part of the weather community in SE TX! Of course S2K will welcome increased participation from the KHOU members in the meantime.

WHAT!! Why? This is terrible! Could they not find someone that would keep it up and running via 3rd party? This is the only weather forum I know of that is a primarily greater Houston area weather forum.

I love storm2k as well, but KHOU was great for Houston based weather.. so sad..

Well this is depressing. Living in the DFW area I would check out KHOU from time to time to check on our southeast Texas friends. The more the merrier here on S2K though. Should be a fun winter to track statewide.

And poof it is gone. Got a "forbidden" notice on the refresh. So sudden, I wonder why????

All questions should be directed to Tenga and KHOU.com. It's sad that after being online since 2001 that the powers that be were not concerned enough to provide some advance notice of their intentions. I literally had an hour notice to save anything we wanted to capture. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time to salvage anything.

Wow ... what a terrible shame! Steve, I'm so sorry to hear this. The KHOU Forum served a critical function for persons in SE Texas (and beyond really) with real time weather information, education, and preparedness information. It was a huge public asset. With no warning ... smh.

Been to my link several times since the shutdown and keep seeing forbidden. It is a habit of mine to check it frequently and hate seeing it go away!!! Maybe too expensive to run only a one topic forum compared to what it used to be with news of the day, sports etc?

I guess I hadn't used the KHOU forum much over the past 6 months. I'd only take the time to discuss SE TX weather once (here) vs. in two forums. If the forum was still up (KHOU), we could point all the members here to discuss the weather. Any way to get the word out (Steve) to the KHOU members who may not be aware of this forum?

We have some exciting news regarding the future of the Weather Forum! Andrew has been working extremely diligently throughout the Thanksgiving Holidays working out issues with the current database and he has successfully salvaged all the historical data, both text and graphics of very outdated khou platform and transferred it to a brand new sleek and modern mobile friendly platform that will allow us to keep all of the existing username and login information you currently use here. The new platform is basically a new highly updated form of a phpbb platform we are currently using. We encourage everyone to monitor the Weather Forum closely this week as our dedicated server is being built and after testing and working out any potential technical issues, we will go "live" and make an announcement of the new domain link.

So everyone knows, we have worked closely with the Web Producer at KHOU throughout this situation and we have received tremendous support for our local KHOU folks. They allowed us to retrieve all the data from the platform server as well as their dedicated server that they have paid for over the years. Without that support, we could NOT have saved the historical data and for that we are extremely grateful!

We welcome everyone and appreciate the Staff of S2K for allowing us to use this weather community as a source to relay information as we have transitioned away from the old KHOU Weather Forum.

Yep! It's a thing! I'm the first Oklahoman member there

(And also, when you're a new member, you need to wait until they approve your post, after a certain number, you're good to go!)

You have to accept the security risk and it’ll let you back in. I believe their certificate is out of date.
