CORRECTION.....

Satellite imagery does indicate increased convection East of the exposed LLCC NW of the deep convection, Observations from 42003 respectively 1010MB, wxman57 thanks I misinterpreted the 1010 for 1000, Looked quick thinking LLCC was further south, however can't justify barge just south of the Depression reporting they had winds approximately 40KTS, Quite strange, to me that would have indicated a TS force wind radii 150 - NM over the Southeast quadrant. If you can Im home and have very little ability to locate correct Ship data, tryed TPC nothing let me know if you can rais something out of them.
Thanks again/ John

I posted some screen-shots of satellite data with buoy plots in the other thread. I'm not sure what you're identifying as the center, but here is the latest word from recon (center at 27.6N / 85.7W). Heaviest squalls are just about 60 miles due east of this point. It's possible that a barge may have reported a wind gusts of 40kts or even 50-60 kts in squalls. But I doubt the barge reported a 1-minute wind of 40kts.

Oh, and welcome to the board! Glad to have you here. If you've ever gone to the National Hurricane Conference there in Florida or the Florida's Governor's Hurricane Conference then I've probably seen you there.
