Apparently, she passed from COVID-19 on Monday (August 16th). She was a very popular OCM during her 20-year tenure (1986-2006) at The Weather Channel. Her career ended prematurely after she was involved in a very serious automobile accident, which left her with a traumatic brain injury.

Sad to hear. The Weather Channel was the first regular cable channel I watched and she is one of the few originals I remember.

I remember her well. TWC was so good to watch 1982 through the 1990's and she was a pro.

Man, that's horrible...Not sure everyone knew, but she was also in a horrific car crash in 2006. Here's a snippet of the release:
"On Thanksgiving Day in 2006, Jones was involved in a violent car accident on her way to work at the Weather Channel. A car had run a red light and hit the passenger side of her SUV, forcing it to flip over several times. Media reports say that even though Jones was wearing her seat belt, her head went through the windshield, impacting thousands of slivers of glass into her face and her head. She suffered a significant brain injury from that accident, leaving her permanently disabled."
That might be also why she was more prone to the effects of covid...That poor girl....She and Kristina Abernathy were two of my favorites on the weather channel in the 1990s...
