Looks like a depression now, to me. Good satellite representation and scatterometer indicates a well-defined LLC. IMD will likely call it a depression later today. Moves inland near Chennai Thursday evening local time.

Apparently, JTWC upgraded it to TS 04B shortly before it made landfall based on ASCAT. Only two warnings issued for it.

during 1730 and 1830 hrs IST. It lay centered at 1830 hours IST over north coastal Tamil Nadu, close to Chennai.
