Both GFS and Euro models show a potential northeaster this coming week with heavy snow for NY and areas north.. GFS forecasting 50 mm 24 hour QPF's while the Euro forecasting about half that along the I-95 major coastal city corridor. I'm a little surprised we aren't getting the usual model war discussions on storm2K now that we are in the 72 hour window?

Most of the people in the Northeast are on the americanwx forums.

I'm here and ready to get buried
Unfortunately you're not gonna get a lot of talk on this forum though since the overwheming majority of the userbase seems to be from the southern US (primarily Texas and Florida, especially the former). As the poster above mentioned you're better off on other forums like Americanwx if you want further discussion regarding this event (and others like it).
Here's some pretty maps though.
12km NAM

3km NAM

HRRR (12z, only goes out to TAU 48 so much of the event is still ongoing)

If those pretty maps are right I might be getting cheated a bit. Hopefully I can get at least a pretty dusting.

This is going to look absolutely crazy on visible satellite imagery

Re: New England powerful northeaster
This would be cool.

Checking the New England and NYC AmWx threads. The 18Z being a hair less than the 12Z and the NE people are in a panic.
Edit to Add:
Multiple HH missions for the Blizzard. 2 today

This storm may approach the Blizzard of 1978, which 18-24 inches on Long Island, 50 knot winds at the coast and 3 feet of storm surge with waves on top. I missed a full week of Catholic school back in the bad old days when they had nuns. Massapequa/Amityville, NY

Re: New England powerful northeaster
We typically seem to get the back side of these nor'easters. Flakes have been flying off and on all day, and now there's a wind advisory tonight and tomorrow.
Probably not as exciting but at least I have a place to post these things.

50 knot winds forecast for Boston along the north shore, worst New England blizzard in 9 years.
hopefully the power stays up to power the furnace blowers as temps behind this monster are going to be frigid.

I woke up to a dusting this morning. It didn't survive the day despite being below freezing, but the flakes were flying all day. Looks like it's starting to accumulate again tonight.
