"Make or Break" latitude for Florida threat?

#1 Postby spaceisland » Thu Sep 11, 2003 5:08 pm

Even with the uncertainties, what would be a reasonable north latitutude by Sunday or Monday which would indicate that south and central Florida are very likely not the landfall target for this monster?

Is the 64 thousand dollar question. My guess is that it really doesn't much matter because a CAT 5 will go pretty much where she pleases-even at the last minute. Since my knowledge is minimal,I, too, would like to hear some opinions from the pros.

Hurricanes have turned in loops and come back for "seconds" -- in most instants very little can be said about a lat and long that promises safety.

Anything is possible in the tropics especially at this time of the year. Hurricane Betsy made a loop and came into extreme South Florida in 1965 so be prepared for the worst.

Didn't Dennis loop also, earning him the nickname "Dennis The Menace?"
