Just for conversation....
~Do you think it's reasonable to sound an "all clear" for some areas like perhaps the FL Keys? South Florida? The Gulf States? The west coast of Florida? I mean, doesn't the data really TREND toward a *POSSIBLE* stike north and east of those areas? Why or why not? How accurate have the models been in the past? Do we really have to keep the ENTIRE east coast on edge at this point? Media ratings? Hype? Not? I ask you.....seriously.

Would you feel better if someone says "All Clear for Florida" Would you stop listening or paying attention? I think it is very silly to even listen to ANYONE who sounds the "All Clear" when the storm is more than 6 days away from any land. Absorb all the information. Weed out the opinions from the facts and sound the "All Clear" to yourself when YOU feel safe.

My post never implied that I was sounding an "all clear" or that I want to hear one. Read it again....Just opening up the topic for discussion.
=) PS::::No, I would not stop listening or paying attention. I find tropical weather fascinating. Fish storms and all.

Heather... I agree that some may begin to breathe a little easier, especially across the Keys, but in no way is it "all clear" for them. A lot change change in 6 days.

Heather, this storm is not hype. An major hurricane, 1,400 to 1,500 miles from the southeasternmost corner of the United States. That really isn't that close to the United States.
The center of Hurricane Isabel hasn't even crossed the easterrnmost Caribbean islands yet.
As of 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Isabel's eye was approximately 540 miles east of the San Juan, Puerto Rico's longitude.
