Do Not Call blocked ...AGAIN!

#1 Postby Lindaloo » Fri Sep 26, 2003 9:40 am

Well Congress passed new legislation and it has been blocked once again by a Federal Judge. Now it will probably go before the Supreme Court, but there is no way that court will be able to hear the case before Oct. 1st.

I must say that it is obvious that the majority of Americans do not want these telemarketers calling them. THAT should stand for something!!

Maybe all 50 million people who signed up for the Do Not Call list should get on their phones and call these Federal Judges at home while they are eating dinner. Or 9 at night when they just turned out the light to get that precious good nights sleep.

I don't want them calling. You know how nice it is to eat dinner without one calling.
I have to say though I have been waiting for a glass company to call and ask if I have any cracks or chips in my windshield so I can say WHY YES I DO.but no luck and it was fixed yesterday. Now I can say "where were you yesterday".

As of right now, Wisconsin has the list. Needless to say Gov. Doyle will veto any opportunity from the legislature to block the list. He does not want the telemarketers calling residents of Wisconsin. No ifs ands or buts!

Don't call me.....If I have a need for your services, I'll call you.

But of course in their minds, we aren't smart enough to really know what we need or want until they (telemarketers) call and tell us.

The will of the people, something this country was founded on and thrived with, means nothing anymore. 50 million people can want most anything and if a half dozen attornies and a few crackpot judges see it differently, forget about what 50 million want. One of the darkest days ever was Madeline Murray sh*t for brains taking hold as it sent horrible precendent for the needs of the very, very few outweighing the needs of the many.

Most telemarketing is scammy, principally designed to prey on the elderly, weak, and simple minded who are inept at protecting themselves or simply saying no. Very, very few items of true value or noteworthiness are brought to enlightenment by a telemarketing call. A legitmate process of discovery that you would not obtain by other less intrusive methods, and thus personally benefit by, is also extremely rare.

I typed this post at 10:45 yesterday morning.
When I got home at 6:30pm my wife said Alpine Glass Co called around 5PM wondering if we had any broken or chipped windows. How ironic

LOL Hunter..

Ok this is how we apease the masses..(Lotta money made over the phone  )

I do actaully hate them for the record.

The telemarketers sign up for an exact catagory of service or product and either reigional/local/national/Global.

These catagories are specific and limitations are made to qualify for multiple catagories.

Then we as comsumers could allow those trades or products people to contact us ..under our terms..time,location,etc..

So much more productive on both sides..

The limitations of course would help eliminate monopoly etc..

Either that or we announce a Jihad holy war against them.. :grrr:

BETTER WATCH THE MAIL NOW!!

As an inkjet operator here at First American Printing Company, Ann Howard is "national". Each day, millions of pieces of commercial mail pass by her on the way to cities throughout the country.

She's been keeping up with the news of the national do not call registry, and believes it will prove to be positive for the direct mail industry.

"There are a lot of people that don't want to be called on the phone. People will accept mail a lot faster than they will telephone calls," said Howard.

Others agree. As millions of consumers refuse sales pitches that interrupt their days and nights with ringing telephones, businesses are being forced to redirect their telemarketing efforts.

As a result, direct mail is expected to command a big chunk of the change telemarketing will lose.

"Our business has grown considerably in the last few months. Some may be related to that. Some I'm sure is unrelated to that. But the other thing that's happening is some of the people that do Internet marketing are now seeing those results level off or even decrease. So I think there will be people that have used other marketing methods returning to direct mail over the next few months," said sales manager John McCollins.

The direct mail industry, including these folks at First American, remain optimistic that October first could be the key date to future growth.

How much growth? No one is sure.

But hopefully, for those of you who have signed up, October first will be a day to begin enjoying peaceful sales-pitch free evenings at home.

But don't forget to keep your eyes on the mail.

Even though the bill passed both chambers, and is expected to be signed into law by President Bush, that does not automatically nullify the recent court order that implies the 'do not call' registry threatens freedom of speech.

An increase in mail sales will offset the losses the postal office has incurred from Ecommerce..More trees sacrificed...I'am not surprised nobody in the current leadership cares about them anyway..One way or another they are going to jam their products down our throats.. :x

When they call me I start asking them personal questions designed to embarass them, until they just hang up on me! It's loads of fun!
