Bizarre Work Excuses

#1 Postby southerngale » Mon Oct 20, 2003 2:51 pm

"I forgot what day it was. I thought it was the weekend."

"My wife and son took both cars, and when I went outside,
there was nothing in the driveway."

"I am stuck in the blood-pressure machine down at the Wal-
Mart."

"I'm sorry I didn't make it! My car broke down; I ran out
of gas; my mother died; I had to go to the doctor; there was
an earthquake. It wasn't my fault!"

"My wife makes more money than I do, so I have to stay at
home with our sick son."

"My roommate locked me in the bathroom."

"I hit a mountain lion on the way to work."

"The jury I was on was sequestered, and we weren't allowed
to leave or contact the outside world."

"The dog was asleep behind the car, so I couldn't back out
of the driveway."

"Sorry. I thought I had already put in my 2 weeks' notice."

LOL!

How about, "I dropped my keys off the ferry." (A co-worker used that on my boss once...when she actually had a really bad hangover.)

This one is not so bizarre. My wife has used that one a couple of times when one of our daughters was really sick when she was younger. We had to decide who was going to stay home. Since she got sick pay and I didn't She stayed home. And I made more per hour at the time.

LOL....to the rest of them

I once had a guy call in with the excuse he couldn't come to work because his grandmother died. What's so strange about that? He had already used the same excuse THREE times in less than a year. I quickly confirmed out he didn't even go to a funeral, and no one in his family had died....it was all a lie (of course we terminated him).

When I was a security watch commander, I've also had guys call in a couple times that couldn't make it to work --because they were in JAIL (never good, especially when you are employed as a security officer :D

This one can happen, too: "The jury I was on was sequestered, and we weren't allowed to leave or contact the outside world."

How about, "I couldn't call in sick yesterday because I had a sore throat"? It happened to my husband once and the boss refused to let me call him in. He had to talk to hubby himself, wouldn't even belive the doctor about hubby not being able to talk. I did offer to bring him by in person. :grrr:
