Kid Rock fan busted

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — A Michigan man is accused of gunning for rap-rocker Kid Rock.

Fanatical fan Terry Lyons, 43, was planning to give Rock an assault rifle as a gift. At least that is what Lyons reportedly told the police who found the unloaded gun in his car trunk earlier this week.

Rock, whose real name in Bob Richie, was performing a special early Christmas concert in the area. He is a Michigan native.

Michigan state police troopers were on a routine patrol when they allegedly spotted Lyons driving at night with his headlights off.

When the officers stopped Lyons and he opened his door, the smell of marijuana reportedly wafted out of the car. The officers said they found the gun when searching the trunk.

The gun allegedly was concealed in newspaper, cardboard and an orange traffic vest. A bouquet of flowers reportedly was stuffed in the barrel.

Besides the rifle, police reportedly confiscated a quarter pound of marijuana.

Lyons pleaded not guilty to charges of improper possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. His preliminary appearance is set for Dec. 9 in Macomb County court.
