Police Nicked for Gambling, Drunk Driving
BEIJING (Reuters) - China has fired 259 police officers since January for gambling, drinking during work hours, drunk driving, carrying firearms under the influence of alcohol or violating gun use and management rules.
The Ministry of Public Security had investigated 587 police for breaking the so-called "Five Prohibitions" which were introduced in January to clean up the force, the Xinhua news agency said on Thursday.
The ministry had dispatched 15 inspection teams around the country to check up on police stations and publicize the campaign.
