Could we have an extended period of snowcover?

#1 Postby White_Mtn_Wx » Fri Dec 05, 2003 3:02 pm

In the Mid-Atlantic snowcover sticking around for an extended period of time tends to be rare, at least over the last 15-20 years. However, with the snowfall today and tomorrow, no tremendous heat wave in sight and the apparent trend to cold and colder in the long range, this snow might stick around for a while. That's if we can manage to make it past the middle of next week's snow eating mid 40's and rain...

I am concerned about several days of temps above 40 between Monday and Thursday, and some rain Wednesday and/or Thursday. If you have 10" or less on the ground by the end of the storms this weekend, there may be very little left by late Thursday.

There will be a day or two of warm temps with the next storm heading up west of the apps. Snow will be wiped out. :)

FWIW, Bastardi pops in the mention of 60 degrees along the coast in one of his videos today. He thinks major flooding will be a problem next week.

roardog - I would be surprised to see temps go to 60 north of DC next week, especially in places where there is snowcover.
