Lake-Effect and Mountain Snow Setting In...
As a storm leaves the Great Lakes, very cold air coming in behind it will create snow and flurries off the lakes and as far south as the West Virginia mountains over the next 24 hours or so.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan and much of the western Peninsula of Michigan will receive a new 1-3 inches by tomorrow morning. The change to colder will also mean snow and flurries from western New York southward through western Pennsylvania and to eastern West Virginia. Again, amounts will be generally 1-3 inches, but several inches can accumulate where the heavier snow bands set up. Tonight, the mountains of northern New England and the Adirondacks will probably receive a couple of inches.
Moisture streaming into the West will bring generally 1-3 inches of snow to the Washington and Oregon Cascades and the Sierra of California. One to three inches of snow will fall in the Bitterroots, the mountains of western Montana and Wyoming, the Wasatch, northeastern Nevada, the mountains of northern Arizona and the high peaks of central Colorado.
The energy coming out of the Rockies will develop low pressure over Texas tomorrow, and arctic air will press down from the north. During the day tomorrow, snow and ice may be found from northern New Mexico to the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.
