We shoulden't used our part-time troops from the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve to do what our full time troop should be doing.

We do need to have our National Guard troops available here at home to help keep us secure here.

They are deploying National Guard troops here in MS every week seems like. Just had some deployed yesterday. They all go to Ft. Stewart, GA then to Iraq.

An OBVIOUS solution, and one I have brought up before, is to have each State Governor authorize, equip and staff a State Military Reserve...one that is made up of STATE troops, never to be Federalized, working within their own State under the direction of the Governor or the State Adjutant General.

30 of the 50 States HAVE such state troops already...and all states may have such bodies, as they are authorized under Federal law. This would "free up" Reserves and NGs to serve overseas, and still not strip the States of a trained cadre of troops for civil unrest, emergencies, etc.

Missouri is in process of raising such a body as we speak; some of the more notable States that have active Guards or Military Reserves are TX, CA, NY, OH, TN and MS, while others have authorization, but not activated.
