All,
I've been looking at some of last night's data (hello, GGEM!) and even this morning's GFS, and I must say that I like the potential. There seems to be a lot of support for a trough in the east with an associated SFC low. The only problem I see looks to be a lack of cold air. If the GFS were to verify (you can stop laughing now), the MA/NE would get lucky, since the low would be "backing" into the area and have already drawn in some extra cold air at the surface as the precip arrives. Even so, the system isn't all that impressive. I don't think I've seen a surface low move NNW like that in December, so I'll toss that aside. The UA pattern looks pretty good for storminess, though.
It'll be interesting to see what the EC has to say.
Thoughts?

I for one love the amount of qpf this system spits out here. My gut tells me though if it is indeed colder then i wont be getting much from it. Kinda how things have worked out this way lately(Shaft Zone)
