Discreet line of showers blasts the Atlanta area with 50 mph

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Thu Dec 18, 2003 10:34 pm

wind gusts ...

There's quite a 500mb jet streak evidenced on WV imagery. Also evidenced with 50kt winds at the 850mb level, the winds are punching thru and some of that wind energy was tapped in the low-topped showers that has developed and been drawn down to the surface ...

You can see in the WV loop just how strong the punch is ...

Hey SF,

That 50mph wind gust was just to my west in Marietta! The WV loop you provided is a really good depiction of that. Also, on the other side of the storm, some snow totals in the NC mountains will be anywhere from 8-12 inches by the time all is said and done!

Hey Linda,

I currently work in Marietta, and live right up the road from Roswell. We had at least a 30-40mph gust where I live, and it was a bit scary being on the top floor of a four story apt building! I'm not too crazy about the wind either, and haven't seen it that windy in a while!
