The first time in 5 years that Las Vegas has had measurable snowfall ... however, it isn't unusual for Las Vegas to see trace amounts every year, just not MEASURABLE snowfall ...
Also note, that this is only 5 days after Las Vegas observed its first EVER thunderstorms on Christmas Day...
Weird.

Last measurable snow prior to today in Vegas was back on December 6th, 1998. Quite amazing they saw their first tstm on XMAS Day '03 also.
Also note Las Vegas Mccarrean Arpt has received 6.86" of precipitation this year. That makes it the 7th wettest year on record in Las Vegas. 6.86" is wet for Vegas standards in the Las Vegas Valley.
Happy new years eve folks!!!
