I hear that there is a possibility for snow next weekend in central Virginia. What is the call in accum. for now?

It's only a potential for snow at this point, and IMO it is definitely too early to make an accumulation forecast.

It appears arctic air may be getting ready to filter into the Mid Atlantic late next week, and models indicate the potential for a storm, but it's a long way out-----still about nine days away. Too far out in time to ascertain snow amounts.

As we progress in time, we'll know with increasing certainty about whether the storm will develop, if the 850 levels will be cold enough, and how much snow you can expect.

This is certainly the time of year for it though.

While agreeing with other replies, I'll add this:
Models do a wretched job with strong Pac flow (as has been persistent) thus confidence in any MR storm is exceptionally questionable.

Right now, there is nothing to suggest this buckles later next week and frozen precip gets into central VA. Could happen but be very skeptical of huge trofs and mondo +PNAs over the next week.

It's too far away to really say if you will get snow.

I see the system you're talking about.

There is a good chance that it will miss you by the looks
of it.

I myself see the system moving out to sea quickly.

You just may end up with milder temps then what they
are seeing on the models today.

Looks like you will be right on the boarder of the ridge
during that time.

That could change of course.

I would not hold my breath at this time.

Give it some more time as we approach next weekend. :)
