Trying to get up to speed

#1 Postby WEATHER53 » Sat Jan 24, 2004 11:37 pm

been over at the hopeless WWBB but 4 posts in 40 minutes is not what life is all about. DC TV mets all over start time ranging from 3-9pm but all seem to be bringing more sleet and fr rain into it while to me cold air set up looks even better. What do rest of you think. Thanks.

Please no frzra please. All snow is what we need. Freezing rain will bring a wholesale disaster because of the very cold ground temps and air temps.

I dont see that happening 53. May get some sleet mixing in but should be mainly a snow event.

Just about everyone besides them i guess are saying that. Looks good for a solid 6 - 10 inch event to me.

ill agree to that with .75" of liquid mostly all snow. low dendrite layer, and good rising motions.

I watched all three 11PM newscasts...

NBC4 (Veronica Johnson): 5-8" metro area with 8-10" in the Winchester-Martinsburg-Hagerstown area

ABC7 (Joe whoever): 5-10"

Ch 9 (Tony Pann): get ready for this... 2-4" for the entire metro with a small area of 4-6" over the mountains! :-?

Personally, I think we're still looking good for a nice 6-8", especially west of town with higher QPF and lower 850 temps. Earlier I was thinking we might get even more but with the drier trend at 00z I think I'll stick with that. What's interesting is the 00z Eta suddenly jumping on the coastal low Monday night... that gives areas west of about Westminster to DCA to RIC a significant ice storm into Tuesday morning with Charlottesville actually picking up half an inch of glaze on top of all that snowfall! Between these two events it's hard to complain about the upcoming week's weather in the central Mid-Atlantic :D.

# 3 is simply retarted. "joe whoever" from ABC 7 seems to have a pretty good handle on it. miss veronica may be a bit too high. the 8-10" totals should be confined to the potomac highlands. (MRB, HGR, and so on).
