As of 930p the radar looks empty just 100-150 miles west and southwest of Dc..with some good heavy snow going on now,YAY!, this will have to do for the next 3 hours..so up to an inch an hour shd give most about 3-5 inches since it started coming down in earnest around 8-830p.. Hopefully there will be a part II tomorrow night and Tuesday. One of the shortest quickest events in DC history..LOL.....
PS..wwbb is broken big time..for hours!

Yep I have noticed the radar trends tonight. I try my best NOT to look at the radar, because it is painful LOL. I'm enjoying the snow we have, we are working on 2 inches now in N VA, but if we do get some heavier snow between now and about 12Midnight then we could pick up about 5, maybe 6. I think 5 is a little nearer the mark though.
Let's hope it doesn't warm up too much over the next few days so we can enjoy what we do have, what we do pick up tonight. Even with the weakening of the snow shield, tho that is unfair, I am happy with what we did get. I have been through some storms that gave us zip, or worse, gave us a solid 5 inches then doused us with moderate rain for 6 hours and washed away the snow LOL. This should be a better scenario for us, although we will have to weather the warmup that will accompany the coastal developing off the coast, which will break up the wedge and bring us low 40s and possibly rain into the bargain LOL
However, I will console myself with the knowledge that I did get at least some snow, and that the developing coastal low will bury New England with anywhere from 12 to 20 inches of snow!!!!!!
If you look hard enough, there is always a silver lining to these things!
Plus, the New England snow lovers will show us pictures of some of the best snow that you ever did see!!!!
PLUS, the snow that will be laid down over the Northeast will only serve to deepen any arctic air that will come down and keep it from modifying!!!! YEAH!!!!
So let the coastal form!!! Let New England get three feet of snow!!! Let there be snow all over the north and northeast!!! Cuz then we will see even colder air, which will bring more snow to us in the MA!!!!!!
:)

I have been getting quite nervous looking at the radar as well, but it looks like the snow will be developing right over us in the DC area for the next 6 hours or so. The new 0z models seem to hint that this will happen as well. Anyway if this doesnt happen there will be alot of busting going on.

That 1/8 visibility ob at IAD past hour or so must mean awesome snowfall rate, close to 1.5 an hour at least? I bet you can hardly see down the block.LOL... I cant believe all the morons out on RT 66, according to the traffic cams..its a friggin SUNDAY night, where are these idiots going?
I see the slight filling in to the SW and that may serve up some light snow for awhile after 12-2am..still looks good for 4 maybe 5 tops for you guyz west of DC.

looks like 2AM oughta do it for the accumulating snow...the sw cut off is near CHO and north to Morgantown as of 1215a and as this radar pic shows..so turned out to be a 6 hour quicky, kinda ripoff if you ask me LOL.....not sure why NWS thinks as of 11pm that this will go on intermittently thru the night, there's nothing west or southwest to indicate this once this last band goes thru.....I predicted 4-5 yesterday for DCA/IAD but moreso on aloft warming rather than lack of moisture..LOL.......do the ends justify the means?

Solid snow down to Charlottsville and ragged fill in sw of that, 70 miles away still snowing so going to be at least 3 hours before end, more like around 5am, even 7am not out of question.
I am also noticing some redevelopment coming out of the mountains, but it is haphazard and sparse...I am thinking Heavy stuff done by 3-3:30 and then some intermittent light stuff until 5 or 6.........
