DT, HM, Flaguy... question for you when you have a minute
What are your thoughts on the weekend/first of next week regarding arctic air in the deep south? From what I've gathered by reading posts, looking at model runs(not that I completely understand them), and talking to a local meteorologist, there is a lot of uncertainty about what will happen, especially after Sat/Sun. From the data gathered, it appears we'll be experiencing a warm-up near the end of this week.
**not asking "how much snow will I get". Just wondering what you think about the situation.

No worries N.O.. I was not trying to be confrontational either.. Im cranky and have bronchitis.. Only takes somthing minor like an eye roll to get me going.. lol
I did read it, and his original post was no help to them, but the convo was going on and further discussions were taking place and No one was responding to there question here, so I though maybe something in the post would eventually help them out is all

Sorry if I came across as a Smart Arse. That wasn't my intention.
Colin, if you are a young one. Please don't grow up to be an instigator.

PRETTY CONFIDENT IN FORECAST UP TO THIS POINT AND THEN THE FUN
BEGINS! ANOTHER ARCTIC HIGH WILL BE SETUP OVER THE NRN PLAINS AND
THE QUESTION IS WHETHER OR NOT SOME OF THE COLD AIR WILL MOVE INTO
THE AREA AFTER THE LOW MOVES OUT. BELIEVE WE'LL SEE A LITTLE TASTE
ON FRIDAY (WILL NEED TO WATCH THIS CLOSELY FOR POTENTIALLY COLDER
TEMPS) BEFORE STRONG CYCLOGENESIS AND ASSOCIATED FRONTOGENESIS OVER
THE SRN ROCKIES BRINGS WINDS BACK TO THE SOUTH ON SATURDAY. MRF
BRINGS THE FRONT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING AND BLASTS US WITH THE
MOTHERLOAD OF ARCTIC AIR FOR EARLY NEXT WEEK...THOUGH THE EUROPEAN
KEEPS COLDEST AIR WELL TO OUR EAST. WE'VE BEEN WATCHING THE
POSSIBILITY OF THIS SCENARIO UNFOLDING FOR THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS AND
STILL DON'T HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF CONFIDENCE THIS FAR OUT BUT WILL
UNDERCUT GUIDANCE FOR SUN AND EARLY NEXT WEEK. IF THE MRF DOES PAN
OUT...WATCH OUT FOR SOME PIPE BUSTING TEMPS. STAY TUNED!
That's from the NWS Lake Charles...maybe we'll see this arctic outbreak after all!

I haven't looked at the models yet today-may get a chance in a few mins. Yesterday, as I posted, the GFS is definitely teasing us with one heck of a blast around the 5-7 time frame depending on where you live along the Gulf coast. I'll post more as I can get more in tune with what they are showing.
And an edit with the addition of this from the SE TX NWS discussion. This is for sure-making it a real prob to become consistent with forecast, both for the pro's and the not so pro's like me>>>>WILL STICK WITH THE CONSIS-
TENT MRF/GFS FOR THIS TIMEFRAME AS ECMWF CONTINUES ITS OWN SPECIAL
BRAND OF METEOROLOGICAL GYMNASTICS WITH GREAT ABANDON.
That is a scary statement considering the GFS performance of late, at least in the longer term.
