Hey FLorida People...

What is a red flag warning? Saw it on the mobile nws site for parts of florida. It was talking about humidities below 35%, but why would you need a warning for humidity?

JQ, the warning is for very low humidities, and with the mixing winds and dry RH values, the conditions are prime for forest fires, and also encourages AGAINST outdoor burning ... basically speaking, it is a fire weather warning.

Some NWS offices (here in Florida) call "Red Flag Warnings," "Fire Weather Warnings."

normally, its issued for the combined effect of prolonged strong winds, low RH, low crop moisture indices.
