More computer problems...

Ok, I'm stupid. Yesterday, I experimented with my screen resolution and changed the settings to see what it would look like. Well, I tried setting it beyond 1024 x 768, and now all I have when I turn my computer on is a small box that says "Out of range" and the rest of the screen is black. I can't see or do anything now. I asked someone at school and they told me to run my computer in safe mode and that's supposed to restore the resolution. I'm told that, to do that, I have to press F8 as the computer is booting and I'll have the option to run it in safe mode. Is this true? Does anyone have any other suggestions? For those wondering, I'm running ME (DO NOT LAUGH). Thanks.

Your friend is right. By forcing your computer into "Safe Mode" it will come up at 640x480 and you should be able to reset it back to 800x600 or 1024x768. :-)

The "Safe Mode" will do the trick. If I ever have a problem where Windows won't load, I run Windows in "Safe Mode" and it always works.

I abide by the former Pinsetter Mechanic's principal ... (before I got in with the Postal Service) ... since one thing I tried to "fix" that wasn't broke, ended being a 5 hour job ... and the boss was NONE too happy since it was HIS fix that I totally hosed up ...

Since then, ain't broke, leave it ... :lol:

Yeah, that was almost 10 years ago ... oh, well .. I did eventually get it working even better than before BUT ...

and if all else fails....use the restore cd LOL. Wonder how many times I've had to do that????
