This is dated Feb. 5th and is quite interesting. There seems to be no clear indication either way that an El Nino or La Nina is brewing. Check out the latest from CPC:

In other words no clear evidence of a true el nino comming even as that kelvin wave rolls eastward.

your probably right luis, but that kelvin wave will most likely promote SOME warming of the equatorial PAC SSTA. normally strong MJO activity is followed by a noteworthy increase in SSTA across the region.
