Hou/Galv restaurant discriminating against blind

Passing this on from a nurse at UTMB and acquaintance of mine. I don't know Dale, Candace, or their dog Kelsey personally, but I would have been angered if I saw this in person:

As many of you know, last Saturday night (Feb.
7), Dale and I were made to leave Las Haciendas restaurant (old Marco's
corner of Nasa 1 & 45) by the owner because of Kelsey, Dale's Seeing Eye
Dog. Even when Dale tried to explain that his right to be there was
protected by federal law (Americans with Disabilities Act), the man
refused to listen. Basically, we were denied service at a restaurant
where any other person in this community would have been welcome (as if
being blind isn't crummy enough).
Obviously, we won't be returning, and we would appreciate it if others
in this area would support us by not giving this restaurant their
business either. (There are too many other good Mexican food places
around here, anyway! Don Pico's and Mamacita's, just to name a few.)
Even if you don't know us, but you believe in "the principal of the
thing" and the freedoms we are all supposed to have in this country
(disabled or not), we would appreciate your support.
Please pass this on to friends and family in your address book who live
in the Clear Lake area....

First of all was this man talked to...the manager?

If so, the couple should file a lawsuit!

I agree. It says that they tried to talk to the owner. I haven't talked to Kathryn, who sent it to me yet, and probably won't until my b-day bash. But I'll try to find out more.

A lawsuit may get them a slap on the wrist, but what they are trying to do will be far worse. If everyone they contact quits going there, (which is iffy at best) that could really dip into their pocket book and make them think twice about anything like that again.

Then again, a lawsuit would embarrass the establishment in front of a judge for violating the Americans With Disabilities Act.
