Thousands of residents in south-east Queensland remain without power this morning, more than a day after wild storms lashed the coast.
Energex says local flooding is hampering its efforts to restore supply.
Around 8,000 customers are still without electricity this morning across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
Energex says its crews are working around the clock to restore supply.
At the peak of the wild weather, more than 100,000 people were blacked out.
Energex spokesman Mike Swanston says the sustained gale force winds and rain has made it tough for repair teams.
"It took us a significant amount of time until we were able to actually safely approach the areas where the damage was created," he said.
"Also the damage was being generated by those winds over a significant period time and of course now we're being hampered by localized flooding and very soft ground where our lines are."
Energex hopes to restore power to most of those affected by late morning, with a crew of 250 working around the clock.
