Clipper to Bring Snow to the Central Appalachians..
A clipper, or fast-moving low pressure system, is over southern Kentucky this morning. By this evening, it will track into South Carolina, and by tomorrow morning, it will end up off the North Carolina coast. Along and north of the track of this clipper, especially over the higher elevations of eastern Kentucky, eastern Tennessee, southwest Virginia, southernmost West Virginia and southward into North Carolina, 1-3 inches of snow will accumulate. Thunder and lightning may also occur because the atmosphere is quite unstable.
Another disturbance dropping southward into the Upper Midwest will leave 1-3 inches of snow late tonight and tomorrow morning across the eastern Dakotas and into Minnesota. Northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan can pick up several inches of snow from this system tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. Gusty winds will add to the travel problems in the Upper Midwest.
