No offense, but that's simply ridiculous...Stormsfury wrote:IMHO, The White Stripes are the most untalented signed band out there, with The Strokes a close second ...
Give me the complicated arrangements ...
*SF throwing in a Tool CD to listen to*
I love Tool, have listened to them for years...but in my opinion Jack White has more talent than Maynard ever did.
Elephant, their most recent album, was recorded in 2 weeks. Anything by Tool takes 2-3 years...

No offense taken, Will ...
I don't feel the White Stripes, or the Strokes music at all, and can't understand their direction ... and I definitely don't get the emotion, or the chill, or the intensity with them.
Tool, A Perfect Circle, Disturbed, Earshot, etc. -- I love the intensity and the chill, and the emotion that I get with many of the songs ... that's what I look for especially in a powerful song.

Have to side with SF here... I simply cannot stand the novelty 70's-punk bands like The White Stripes or The Strokes. I'm sure they have some talent and some people enjoy their stuff, but I don't want to listen to it at all. I also strongly disagree that Jack White has displayed anywhere close to the vocal talent of Maynard, who is IMO one of the top 3 rock vocalists of the past 15 years. Sure, his lyrics are overhyped and he doesn't necessarily contribute a lot musically to the songwriting, but his voice is damn good... always the perfect tone and inflection for the mood.
As far as Tool and A Perfect Circle's instrumental/musical talent against TWS... no contest there either IMO. It may take them longer to produce albums, but I don't see the relevance of how fast an album was recorded if it is barely listenable
