Attended a "Bush" party last night...

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Fri Apr 30, 2004 12:31 pm

...with Debi and coppertop. There we were, amongst a small group of polite, well-spoken and rational people, listening into a conference call online with Vice President Dick Chaney, and a discussion afterwards over coffee and cakes.

The GOP initially wanted 2,004 "block parties", but actually got over 5,000 going on all across the country at the same time. The groups ranged from a tidy little group like ours (9) to 200, some even more.

What impressed me was the utter lack of anger, finger-pointing, etc. evidenced by the party-goers...and this was one topic of discussion re: GOP vs. DNC gatherings. We had a very good time, were introduced to nice people, and will meet again in July, according to our gracious hosts.

Comments welcomed.

Sounds cool. I went to a John Edwards Meet-up back in the early January time frame and it too was classy. I can only imagine what a Kerry meet-up would be like. They would probably have to spend the first hour deciding what his stances on the issues were that day.

Even among GOP partygoers I've always found spirited conversations and plenty of enlightenment. Bill...words like polite and rational will surely not be used to describe a similar party come about October...even with everyone on the same agenda!

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

words like POLITE and RATIONAL also don't describe some democrats, much less john Kerry.

or in mathematical terms

RUDE^3 + IRRATIONAL + NONCOMMITTAL = THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Are you aware that one of our moderators is a Democrat? Perhaps you aren't, which is why newbies such as yourself should refrain from making such asinine comments until after you have a good feel for the ideological makeup of Storm2k.

Bill, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! :)

HD he is referring to Kerry and the Democratic Party. And I do believe people are allowed to voice their opinions here without being called names or flamed "newbie" or not.

im really sorry you feel that way. its pretty obvious that YOU must be a democrat as the first term in that equation fits YOUR personality type exceptionally well.

maybe before you open your mouth next time you should familiarize yourself with the united states constitution which clearly states that everyone has a RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH and to voice their opinion....since you have no concept of what the term free speech refers to.

I'm still sick of fighting, so I'll make this short:

1) The United States Constitution states that the Government can't infringe on your right to free speech.

2) You don't know me. I will humor you by telling you that my beliefs align closely with the Democratic party, but I am not a registered Democrat. I can assure you, however, that it's not my rudeness that identifies me as one. And yes, I can be a very rude person. Just ask anybody. :P

well good for you....and i dont have to ask anybody, it just Emanates from your posts.

but i also can be an EXTREMELY rude person too, but RUDENESS doesnt show good character in my opinion, so i ask you, are you proud that you consider yourself to be a rude person? because it would appear that way. im only rude when i have to be, and its does NOT mean i like to be either. b/c I don't.

as far as you being sick of fighting......its very interesting you say that, why? Becuase for somebody who SAYS that they are "sick of fighting" you DO like to Instigate and antagonize.

OK, guys, that'll do!

Let us have peace and harmony prevailing on these Forums...even though we may have disagreements, let them be covered in civility and good will towards everyone!

That having been said, I have "officially" left the political sidelines and am now an active participant...we ordered a "GOP elephant" set of earrings for Debi, a lapel pin for me, and a blue cap so embroidered for coppertop, plus this very afternoon I mounted a BUSH-CHENEY 2004 bumper sticker on the "cockroach-with-wheels" (2000 red Chevy Cavalier) for all to see and dread.

Let the games begin. :D

Interesting thread......thought provoking in a positive way! I'm hosting a couple of these meetings in my home also.

I attended a Lincoln Day Dinner last night with my best friend who is running for the State Representative here in Mi. She has been very involved in various service organizations and board positions for many years, but has no experiance in the political arena.....it was an interesting evening!! As the other 3 Rep. candidates vied for everyones allegiance with promises and reminders of past service.......my friend started off with a good Kerry joke....then stated volounteer work, political views, etc. She thanked the veterans for what THEY have done for HER.....not toyed with what she would do for them as the other candidates did!

She and her husband have owned a bike shop (Harley's) in town for 30 years, have an adult disabled son, (she's on the Community Mental Health Board), very active in her church, a member of NRA......(had gone turkey hunting that morning!).......and just a well-respected member of this community. It was interesting to see the crowds reaction....especially the members of ABATE (motorcycle riders) in the room who came in their leathers! Everyone seemed to like her common-sense approach to each area...........should be an interesting summer!..........p

I'm lookin forward to cane season too. This year I have an advantage over you guys. My future son-in-law is a weather nut like me, lives on the coast, loves canes, and his father is a retired meteorologist! 8-)
