Best actor/actress in a movie

The BEST acting you have ever seen in a movie is.........
I vote for Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade for a modern movie. There are many for old movies, imo.

Could be a tossup between:

Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption. What powerful performances they both gave.

Hard to pick just one, of course. I think that Tom Hanks shows a tremendous range with the likes of Forrest Gump among his many characters.

I've always felt Jodi Foster had the wonderful ability to take an average movie and make it very very good. I liked her in Contact, among others.

Among kids...I've got my eye on the career of Dakota Fanning after I Am Sam and Man On Fire. Wow!

I completely adored Nicole Kidman in "The Hours".

My favorite actor ever ... Peter Sellers as Chauncey Gardner in "Being There". He soooooo should have won the Oscar. (Dustin Hoffman won that year (1979) for Kramer vs. Kramer.)
