I burned up my computer

#1 Postby weatherlover427 » Thu May 06, 2004 6:38 pm

Hi everyone,

Last night when I was trying to install some memory on my computer, I fried something major. So that is why I was not online for almost a full day. I am using a loaner computer right now (thank Goodness for warranties! :D ) and will be with limited Internet access for a few days. So I will still be around but will have much more limited Internet access. :(

Thanks everyone! The loaner is pretty nice, it has a DVD player and a 2.6 GHz Celeron vs. my 1.1 GHz Celeron. :) Plus it has DDRAM (faster than SDRAM) and in addition it has a 80 gig Hard Drive. :D

Wowsers, Josh. When you said you fried it, for a second I thought cookware was involved.

I'll keep my fingers crossed on the warranty. I hope they honor the warranty since you were working on it yourself.

They don't know that. :D I made sure to put the original memory back in before I took it in for repairs, and not once while I was there did I mention the fact that I was working on it. ;)

I got a call from the service place today. There is good news from all this. :) The part that burned (my motherboard / CPU thingy) is no longer being made since it's too old (only 1 year and 9 months) but we all know how fast technology evolves these days. They will be getting me a brand new computer FOR FREE (thanks to my warranty :D ); and I will not lose any data all because I made a backup on my other hard drive. That is why you make backups, and that is why you get warranties. :)
