This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Tropical Wave or Costa Rica low??

#1 Postby Dean4Storms » Thu May 20, 2004 9:30 am

I believe it was Luis who pointed out the passage of the first TW this season for PR yesterday. When I watch the model runs, it now seems to look as if they are developing this TW well east of the Costa Rica Low. I think we have been watching the wrong system. I believe the development, if any will be generated by the TW Luis noted passing PR yesterday. We already see convection firing well east of the CR Low near the TW and the models seems to either move the Costa Rica low out into the EPAC or merge it well eastward, which we've seen no movement of the low to the east thus far.

Looking only at the model posted I'd say you have it analyzed quite well!!!! I have not had time to go through all of the models today, but that is definitely looking like the scenario you present.
