Went chasing last night....first time!
I went out last night and got in my car and went out to find some of these tornadic storms. I went to Loudoun County, but all I got was some big lightning and some very heavy rain. But a supercell apparently had developed to my SE, so I drove (well, I sped a little
) back to Fairfax County where I live and watched the monster storm. The lightning was both fercious and very vivid. I actually saw 4 CG strikes at the same time. It was very dark and the sky turned green. I actually drove 70 mph (I drive a Saturn) down towards the mixing bowl last night, when the announcer on my weather radio I had said there were funnel clouds over the Mixing Bowl. I thought I saw a funnel cloud, but I think I was mistaken. Other than that, I saw nickel size hail, strong gusty winds (to about 65 mph) and VERY HEAVY RAIN to where I had to pull over to the side of the road because I could not see anything. It was fun, and I hope to do it again soon....
