System is Still Poorly Organized

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Mon Jun 14, 2004 12:07 am

As the rain pours on my window, early this Monday morning, it looks like the system may not recover from the sheer. It still has the potential to be a depression, but, we'll need to see some fairly rapid changes before landfall. Nevertheless, this is decent reminder that it's now tropical season. And as they are reporting on the news all over New Orleans this evening, it's a sign that hurricane season is beginning and it's a good time to make the basic preparations for the season ahead. It's only mid-June and we've gotten a little notice from nature--there's more to come....

It still rules though.

I just dropped in to say there's a line of moderate rain moving through my neighborhood now (yellow on radar, a hint of thunder). I don't care how I get my tropical rain, I just like to see it. I'm going sit on my porch and have a nightcap beer. Salut

Raining here as well and also breezy. I enjoy seeing tropical rain, it's alot different than "normal rain". I can best describe it as smaller drops but more of them, if that makes sense? Hopefully we won't have any flooding problems but with an event like this it's bound to happen somewhere. Goodnight everyone.

.30" so far and rising. The good news is that there will be breaks for at least the next few hours, so the flood threat is low for tonight. That could change later tomorrow.

Great post PTracker.

I was going to crash, but it looks like a stronger line is rotating in through St. Bernard Parish, so I'm going to stay up and watch that one come through. Bastardi hinted at some tropical storm conditions somewhere within a 150 mile east of where it comes in (which he's maintained will be around 92W). Cool thing about disorganized deep tropical influxes are that everyone gets a piece of the action - TX, LA, MS, AL, FL, & GA. Like most serious hurricane fans, I always hope to see some of the action. But I try not to get greedy :). 1 squall line or feeder band and I'm cool with that particular event.

And always remember, if a storm hits Louisiana, plenty of other states will be in on the fun. If you're east of me, you should always root for us to get hit unless it's a Cat 4 or 5.

Noticed a swirl in the convection south of Mobile. Checked the radar out and found this :

Could be another MLC but it will not amount to anything because it will land soon. There's a definate spin in the convection though...

Here's the New Orleans local loop. It looks like the worst local weather is in eastern Lake Pontchartrain heading toward Lacombe, Mandeville and Covington. /live action close to home, woohoo!

Sure looks like a nasty squall in the New Orleans area. Looks like this rain will continue to form and move through south Louisiana all night. But going to bed for real now lol, morning commute to work might be action packed  .
