WEST DEER, Pa. -- An Amber Alert has been issued in connection with the discovery of a woman's bound-and-gagged body in West Deer Thursday afternoon.
Allegheny County homicide detectives say the unidentified woman was found dead in a home on Reaghard Drive around 2:45 p.m. Police reportedly found a knife nearby.
Police are looking for 10-year-old Marisa Werner. She is believed to be in a 2004 dark green Dodge pickup truck driven by her father, Scott, who is wanted in connection with the murder. The truck's Pennsylvania license plate is YNB-7981.
Marisa Werner is white, about 65 pounds and 4 feet 11 inches tall. She has blond hair, blue eyes and a scar near the hairline on the right side of her forehead.
Scott Werner is white, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a medium build, brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing glasses.
Scott Werner has relatives in Monroeville. Police say he may be headed there, or possibly to South Carolina. They consider him to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone who sees Marisa or Scott Werner should use caution and call 911 immediately.

It's a relief that Marisa is alive and safe. That was a good choice of words, because she's probably not well, at this point. Her mother was just murdered. Put that man in a woman's prison. They'll take care of him.
A side note: I don't have the statistics, but I understand that the great majority of abductions are by estranged parents, rather than by strangers.
Another note: Our TV programming was interrupted today by the same kind of alert that they use for severe weather. That was the first time I've ever seen that.
