Horrific dream last night - WTC-related

#1 Postby GalvestonDuck » Fri Jul 02, 2004 8:39 am

I don't know where I was supposed to be exactly, but there were tall buildings, mostly residential -- not huge skyscrapers. I was on the sidewalk and I heard a plane overhead, flying from the direction where my back was turned and towards where I was facing. I looked up as it flew past me and saw it make a sharp turn left (as if that's actually possible with passenger jets, but in dreams, I suppose anything is possible). Then it smashed into one of the buildings, several blocks away from me, just a couple of stories from the top. I turned to my left (not sure where I was going since I don't know what city I was in -- Galveston has condos all over the island and studio loft apartments on The Strand and one tall skyscraper [American National Insurance - 20 stories] and then the hospital where I work [tallest bldg is 10 stories here]). When I turned, I saw just seconds after the impact of another plane into another building. Next thing I knew, I was at home with the news on the TV and trying to log on to tell you guys (yeah, seriously...I was coming to S2K in my dream :) ). I had all sorts of emails popping up from the CrisisAlert guys, sending alerts about an attack.

It was worse when I was actually in the dream. I can't recall everything from it -- I just remember being scared and worried about what was going on one minute, rushing ,...then the dream jumped to where I was at my computer, attempting to contact everyone.

I didn't eat spicy food last night. I didn't watch a scary movie or fall asleep with the news on. I wasn't worried or stressed when I went to sleep. So I don't know the meaning of the dream. I know sometimes literal meanings of dreams differ from the figurative meanings, so I don't know what to make of this. It's kind of obvious what I could have been dreaming about (9/11), but I'm not sure why last night. I do recall dreaming about a plane, heading straight down, nose first, into the White House, when I was much younger. Then, when Challenger exploded, I chalked it up to being a strange premonition about that -- sure it wasn't a plane and it wasn't the White House, but it was a white craft with wings and it was government, not civilian. Then, when I saw Independence Day, I remember the scene where the White House was destroyed and thinking to myself, "Wow, the was weird...just like my dream, but without a plane."

As I typed that it just hit me -- July 4th is two days away. Maybe, in the back of my mind, I'm worried about something happening - not necessarily the same way 9/11 did, but something. Even though, I'm don't feel worried or bothered, maybe it's still there -- a combination of fear, preparation, anger, awareness. I don't know. I just wanted to share and vent.

Thanks for listening. :)

That is a very scary dream Duck. Perhaps all of the images and reports of 9/11, Iraq, Saddam, threats, etc. have been working in your subconscious and created your dream. I know that at times I dream of tornados around me, but that doesn't mean a tornado is coming, but that there's changes and perhaps turmoil around me.

I hope that your dream wasn't a premonition, but we always need to remain vigilant.

I think that's it Shawn - with the 4th looming ahead, you may be worried something terrible will happen again? My question though as I read your topic was to ask you to if you just recently saw Fahrenheit 9/11? If so, that could have trigured this dream.

I'm always trying to explain my dreams also. Am I worried about something? Did I read about this in the paper? Did I just watch a movie that was similar?

Also when I have frightening dreams like this, they stay with me for a while. I will prepare you for that. I imagine you won't rest easy until July 5th!

That was cute though that you were thinking of your S2K friends.....so nice of you! I think I'd be the same way, when I log on, S2K is my first stop. Always.

Well, let's think positive here - nothing will happen. Repeat after me....nothing will happen Shawn. Hugs.

Yeah, I'm sure nothing will happen. Just wanted to share. I had a weird feeling (not a dream) before Columbine. I saw a moving truck -- not Ryder, but some local company -- parked here the hospital and I thought about OKC. Of course, Columbine and OKC are not related, except that Columbine happened a mere day after the anniversary of OKC. Probably no biggie -- just my subconscious like Stephanie said. :)

Nope, can't say that I've dared to see F9/11 yet nor do I care to. I want to see Spider-Man 2! I saw Bowling For Columbine recently because I was able to see it for free. Hated it. I won't pay to see a Michael Moore move. But I'll watch for free when I can so I can find out what he's lying about.

Shawn, that is pretty frightening. A lot of times I'll have weird dreams when just the thought of something on the news stays with me. You might have heard something new about the terror alert and your mind was still thinking of 9/11.

((Hugs)) to you my friend.

It was really sweet that you were thinking of your family here.
