North Atlantic Season and Brazil hurricane connected?

#1 Postby PTPatrick » Mon Jul 05, 2004 4:08 pm

I am just curious if any body has any opinion as to whether or not the storm that formed in the south atlantic could be a signature of anything that might portend a busy season(I know there are number of reasons why we already think it will be, but just curious if there might be a connection). I know that theoretically they aren't and I prolly sound stupid for asking, but I doubt I am the only person that has wondered this.

I guess an important question to ask is, are the western north and south pacific seasons ever connected in any way as far as activity goes?

Obviously there's no way to tell statistically, because, well, there are no statistics on SA hurricanes. :)

My guess would be no affect, as far as the Atlantic hurrcane season is concerned. The Pacific and Indian Ocean basins... well, someone here may have better info on that than me.
