So what is the problem with the EPAC?
Last year was slow and this year is like record setting slow again..Is this tied into the lack of monsoon activity in the SW? Seems like the/a monsoon trough has been over the western caribbean, Mexico and well into the EPAC for along time now. The EPAC has had so many qscat swirly close calls it's amazing only one storm thus far. Is the trough inhibiting development because it's so large, the swirls are having a hard time seperating..like waves embedded in the ITCZ?..Should the trough be shifting north for more normal monsoon activity in the SW US?

Sympathizes with the Atlantic?
Anyway, maybe the EPAC is simply getting off to a late start, like the Atlantic.

The monsoon trough was inland in central america but now it is in open waters combined with over 2 weeks of MJO effects boom.
