Here in the deep south also:
Thursday: A 10 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 104. West northwest wind 5 to 13 mph becoming east southeast.

Thursday Night: A 10 percent chance of showers before 7pm. Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East southeast wind between 10 and 13 mph becoming light.

Friday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high around 96. Heat index values as high as 105. Light wind becoming southeast between 10 and 13 mph

Heat index of 105 is just tooooo hot!!

We almost topped 100 yesterday, however the heat is still not over yet. An Air Pollution Watch Level Orange still remains in effect for today.

98º here with a 104º HI. The high yesterday(official)was 98º, but most of the Weatherbug stations I checked topped out at 100º or above with HI's up to 112º. Supposed to "cool down" to the mid 90's by the weekend.

Hottest day of the year

#14 Postby PTrackerLA » Thu Jul 15, 2004 1:24 pm

We officially hit 97 here today making it the hottest day this year. The local news station recorded 98 and Alexandria in central Louisiana reported 101. Looks like the worst of the heat is over with tomorrow topping at around 95 and then back to near 90 by next week with afternoon showers.
