Does this look as suspicious........

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Only if it sits out in the GOM for a few days.

Hey Trader, I expect that's what it's likely to do, being there's no where else to go  :)

Not unheard of for a system to generate in the GOM -- prevailing winds will make the difference in path.

I'm liking the way the GOM and SW Carrib. and E. PAc seem to be coming to life. Think we will see something soon. Could it be the MJO?

Tops continue to warm, so I guess we would say disappearing poof! Not counting it out yet, but nothing giving me worries about it yet either.

These things take time. Never thought it would happen overnight but there definitely seems to be a pickup in moisture in both the GOm and Carrib. Lets see if it pulses back up tonight.

When the clouds tops start cooling I call that "booming" when they start warming I call it "poofing". :D

Which tells us along with 42003 wheich has an ESE wind and falling pressures that there is no low level circ and if there was it is in the wrong direction and that the normal afternoon fall in pressures is occurring. Need a lot more fall in the pressures and a reversal of the winds for any concern of development.

We need the rain here. I'm still wondering why everyone thinks a tropical system might develop out of any and every thunderstorm out there.
