the last few days in my absence (in Atlanta, GA) - some major storms have also struck around the area up here as well, including a vicious storm on Saturday, which including brief, small hail, and high winds (45 mph) with blinding rains for about 15 minutes .. the core of the cell was about 2 miles N of the location.
However, back in South Carolina, reports of major wind damage and large hail have lit up the Lowcountry storm reports with hail 1.50" in diameter in West Ashley (Charleston) and substantial wind damage in Charleston itself, and in West Ashley.
Major storms also have struck the Summerville area the past several days with lightning causing several house fires and damage to trees (some falling across houses) ... and large hail/high winds very near and in my area back home.
My best friend, Becky, reported back to me Sunday that a very strong storm hit the region (I was on the phone with her Sunday) with a very strong cell over the area at the time producing torrential rains, and excessive CG lightning, along with some high winds. Very active weekend for the area.
