Iowa earthquake

#1 Postby senorpepr » Fri Jul 16, 2004 8:52 am

Around 7:15am we had an earthquake in southwestern Iowa. A few at work here in Omaha felt it during the shift change briefing...

AUBURN, Neb. -- Ann Kouba, of Auburn, thought one of her two kids had fallen out of bed about 7:15 a.m. Friday but they were OK.

Then, she said, the low thump was followed by her table moving slightly.

"The whole house started moving just like some giant was jumping up and down. It was long, probably 10 or 15 seconds," Kouba said.

The Nemaha County sheriff's office said it had reports from Auburn, Brownville and Nemaha. The reports indicated a rumbling but not damage or injuries.

A caller from Hamburg, Iowa, told KETV NewsWatch 7 that his whole house shook and other residents are reporting similar stories.

KMA Radio in Shenandoah has heard from about 40 listeners on reports of feeling an earthquake this morning.

So far, it appears folks as far North as Auburn and has far south to Tarkio, Mo., felt it.

She didn't feel it, I can assure you. She's on the other side of the state. I barely felt it 50 mi away.
