Looks like in the last two or three visible frames, you can see Charley opening his "eye." That will give us an easy way to track his progress. Unfortunately, it could also signal that the hurricane is ready to start strengthening again. Looks like there might be some inflow interference from Jamaica right now, and this is the same time of day that convection has tended to die down every day since Charley was a wave. But if recent trends persist (late evening strengthening, further eye development) then Charley could get his act together fast -- especially once he clears the W tip of Jamaica. My biggest fear with this system is that I wake up tomorrow morning and he's a 100 mph cane south of Cuba. Not saying that WILL happen, but it COULD. As even the NHC admits, intensity forecasting is very, very tough. We'll see ...
