*sigh* Anybody else beginning to feel helpless?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I HATE that all we (those of us outside FL) can do now is watch and wait. :(

WTSP is getting ready to sign off. Everyone here who is in the path is hopefully already packed up and gone or boarded up and locked in. I've gotten watery eyes at least 5 times since last night...reading, praying, worrying, praying more, waiting, wondering...and hoping for some kind of miracle. I hope casualties will be few....or, even better, none. But I can't help but think about how distressing this will be for people to return to Tampa and the surrounding area afterwards. What will their homes look like? What will their workplaces look like? How long will it take to clean up and get back to life as they know it? Life that just five days ago was still so normal, sometimes so routine...so thankfully, guaranteed routine and secure and normal.

As I sit here in my dry, air-conditioned office at my desk with a computer that still gives me contact to people hundreds, even thousands of miles away and I look over at a cold Diet Pepsi and down at my dry socks and shoes and think about all these silly little things that most of us take for granted. I pray for you guys -- for your safety, for your family and friends, for the storm to weaken, for things to not hit as bad as forecast, for you to be able to return to your homes soon, for strength and courage for you if things do get bad, and for life to return to normal as soon as possible.

I wish I could do more.

That was lovely!! I know exactly what you mean, btw.
It IS a very helpless feeling especially when you hear all of these stories about people not taking this storm seriously. I will continue to say prayers for all of those who chose to stay in the path of this storm...God Speed to all of you!!

Duck, We are as prepared as we can get and now we sit and wait...
Do not discount what you provide to those of us waiting. The input , well wishes and humor help pass the time.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers! As weatherSnoop said, we're as prepared as we can be right now. The waiting is hard here as well. The fact that this is going to come ashore sometime around nightfall won't make it any easier. If I'm going to get my butt kicked I would prefer to at least see the assailant LOL

Duck...........it is good to be back here but at such a horrible time......I feel your pain and have been in this situation before and I know that prayers and good thoughts truly do work. We are NOT helpless!! Never under-estimate the power of prayer!! We are all praying for our buddies and this is the best we can do but it is a very powerful way to help! Keep good thoughts and prayers flying!! Anyone heard from Johnathan??
