....Charley dissipating over New England...

a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect from New Haven
Connecticut to Merrimack River Massachusetts...and for eastern
Long Island from Fire Island eastward. This warning will likely be
discontinued later this morning.
Surface observations over New England indicate that Charley has
become ill-defined.

At 8 am EDT...1200z...the very poorly-defined center of Tropical
Storm Charley was estimated near latitude 42.0 north...longitude
71.0 west or in the general vicinity of Boston Massachusetts.

Charley is moving toward the northeast near 30 mph...48 km/hr... and
this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph... 65 km/hr...with higher
gusts. Charley is expected to dissipate later this morning.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 85 miles
...140 km mostly east of the center.

Estimated minimum central pressure is 1016 mb...30.00 inches.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are likely in association with the
remnants of Charley over New England and the Canadian Maritimes.

Repeating the 8 am EDT position...42.0 N... 71.0 W. Movement
toward...northeast near 30 mph. Maximum sustained
winds... 40 mph. Minimum central pressure...1016 mb.

Charley really looks extratropical. Can't believe they are still issuing advisories. Winds are only sustained at 20, according to observations in the area.

Charley was late for the Democratic National Convection.

Charley came through last night, though without the wind. We were under a Tropical Storm Wind Warning - Inland areas all day. Charley ended up off the coast of DE and NJ, so the shore got the brunt of the winds. The rain started at around 3:00 pm and got heavier as the day/night went on.

Charley really looks extratropical. Can't believe they are still issuing advisories. Winds are only sustained at 20, according to observations in the area.

My take is it is population density in that area. If they quit, people will lose interest and won't pay attention to weather. Too many politicians affected.
