SEVERE WX SETUP

a rought night is in progress in the Ohio valley region where a 55 mph wind gust has just been reported in Muncie, Indiana as earlier supercell storms evolve into lines and bowing segments along the IND/OH border tonight. This line will head towards dayton and cincinnati later tonight with damaging winds of 60-70 mph being the main threat from severe convection.

By tomorrow severe thunderstorms are possible in the middle atlantic east of the blue ridge where a cold front will move into the region. If the marine layer breaks later in the morning tomorrow, more instability could increase the threat for strong gusts of wind for dc and baltimore later tomorrow. So keep an eye on that.

The bigger story will be over the southern plains and the ARKLATEX region where severe weather is expected to erupt this weekend courtesy of a disturbance moving east from california and nevada. By late tomorrow the disturbance will be over the southern central Rockies. Warm moist air will collide with colder drier air over the southern Plains later tomorrow and tomorrow night setting the stage for the weekend severe weather outbreak from Dallas north into Ardmore tomorrow evening and night. By Sunday, Little Rock and Shreveport are in the path of dangerous storms and some could be widespread severe as well. This second system is expected to be even stronger than the first one moving through the midwest tonight. So the severe threat will be even more widespread I'm afraid from the southern plains into the ARKLATEX region this weekend. VERY LARGE HAIL, possible softball size, damaging winds, and possibly strong tornadoes are possible this weekend in these areas.
