Every jog is now very important for the islands.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

This morning a little jog WSW has been seen and those kinds of jogs will be very important for the northern islands to get more or less effects from Frances. So let's watch that eye how it moves and hopefully it will clear 20.0n more quickly and leave the islands with minor effects.

Agreed..Today is a very important day related to the path..It has definatley made a turn more Westward and maybe a little earlier than projected by NHC..still not a 275 motion yet though..imho

But I am refering only in this thread to the islands as I live in Puerto Rico and some of the members live in the islands.

I know you mean well, but as cycloneye stated, he opened this thread for islanders. Right now the more immediate threat could be to us and we need information and support on this
I wokr up early this morning and turned on TWC for the tropical update. The whole coverage was on Gaston. As soon as they started discussing Frances, they cut to a commercial.
Sometimes stuff like that happens here too
We understand most of you are from the USA but please let's concentrate for the moment on some hard cold facts and analysis for the northern islands.
I, for one, do not know how to analyize this storm.
I don't know whether to start boarding up or not.
As cycloneye states, every little jog is impoprtant for us.

TWC is focusing on Gaston because it's the imminent threat to the U.S. mainland. You may not like it but that's the way it is. They will focus on Frances once it is out of the picture.

Well stated Barbara and I agree 100% as the immidiate concern are the islands where many people live.

you are right. I don't like it.
I undertsand it partly but I don't like it
when hurricane Luis was devastatiing our island in 1995, all TWC could talk about was where it was going, not where it was.
It's no fun being in an unimportant minority..even here..

local Tv?
that's a joke
all we get as far as TV or even radio coverage on a Sunday comes from TWC
even during the week, there is a 30 minute news program taped with old news that we already read in the newspapers :-(
that's the problem
I am sure if a watch is issued, they will bring it over the radio, but there is no on the spot current TV coverage
that's why TWC and this board is so important, and many peole here do not have access tot he interent either.

I mentioned this in a post to Mike Watkins. Storm2k is our best resource for what is happening HERE!!! There is no local news program, no newspaper on Sunday nothing.

Gaston may be imminent to US but the severity of Frances cannot be discounted.

Please try to stay on topic and analyze the effect this will have on us. Notice our coordinates on my profile?
Thanks

This 275 movement if it continues will not be good for the northern islandsas the eye would pass less than 150 miles to the north and even closer if it jogs more south.

Given the great track record of the GFS...and the westward turn as forecasted by the GFS...It looks like it could pass about 90 miles north of the PR.

Pretty close. I expect watches sometime today or tonight.
