Strange about the weather channel....
I've watched the tracking of many hurricanes, but something seems fishy on the Weather Channel with Frances. In the past, storms were discussed in detail this early in the game. There is a definite low level of discussion on Frances. I can't understand what is going on; I almost fell a sense of secrecy about it. Has anyone else noticed? I know the storm is far off, but it is so huge and dangerous that I feel the need to know more.

I tend to agree with you.
I watched last night and early this morning with my wife and we both commented that they were pretty brief and sparse with Frances info. I was shocked at how quick it was.

I think they're probably more than a little gun-shy after the Charley forecast mishap. They're probably going to wait on this one a bit...
The models seem to be lining up on a FL/GA border hit, but it's way too soon to tell....
Personally, I'd like to see it *miss* Central Florida. We've had enough fun here for one summer...

But what if they need to evacuate people? Will there be enough advance notice to get people out of the area in time, without the risk of cars being bumper-to-bumper on the freeways when Frances comes ashore (wherever that may be)?
I understand needing to be cautious & not wanting to cause panic in the public. I do. But I am concerned that waiting until Thursday to tell people to get out of town is going to be too late.
